The W6F is regarded as the BEST winch available in the 60,000 lb class. It's proven history of durability, long production history, high line pulls, simple design, and good product support make is the clear winner in it's class for line pull for PTO driven winches. There are hydraulic winches that offer better control for inching operation and variable line speed, but the W6F has been proven over decades to be a fantastic winch. PTO winches like the W6F almost always out pull a hydraulic winch because the power available to the winch VIA the tractor PTO shaft is much greater than the power available VIA the the dozer ripper valve or tractor hydraulic pump. Normally it's a rule that PTO winches out pull Hydraulic winches, but the John Deere 750J/K and 850J/K are unique as they do have 1 hydraulic oversize winch option that can pull more IF you your tractor is equipped with high performance winch hydraulic pump. Getting the right winch to match your dozer is extremely important, and the John Deere mid-sized dozers are no exception. If you choose the durability of the Allied Hyster W6F your tractor must be equipped with a PTO shaft. Normally this PTO shaft is a John Deere option code 7985 which you much have to install the winch. Just like Hydraulic winches require ripper valves, or high performance winch ready hydraulic systems, the W6F requires a PTO option to be install on a John Deere. Since the Deere's PTO shaft is driven off a hydraulic motor and not directly off the engine there is a loss of line pull compared to direct drive PTO tractors. If you want a proven and durable winch that won't let you down the W6F is a fantastic choice.
