The Carco H110B is an excellent winch and has been used in the field successfully by many operators for decades. This is a hydraulically driven winch powered by the tractor hydraulic system. The key to selecting the right winch is getting the right match to your tractor configuration. The John Deere 750J/k & 850J/K weight class normally accept smaller winches, but due to a special development order the larger H110B has been engineers for these tractors as an over-sized winch. The H110B was originally designed for larger tractors like the CAT D7R, so to drive the H110 properly on these John Deere dozers the tractor must be equipped with high performance winch ready hydraulics. The reason having an over-sized hydraulic winch is important in this case is because of the hydraulic drive. The max line pull for the H110B bare drum is 110,000 lbs which far exceeds the weight of the tractor, but hydraulic winches loose about 1/2 of line pull power when the drum is full. When you oversize the winch it means you still have huge line pull power through the full drum!
This is one of the only situations where the high performance hydraulic winch has more line pulling power through the full drum than a PTO winch for the same John Deere 850. The reason for this is that the Deere PTO in this case is not direct drive or torque converter drive like most tractors in the same weight class. The Deere 750J/K and 850J/K have a hydraulically powered PTO option to drive a PTO winch. Normally a slow speed PTO winch can reach max line pulls bare drum and full drum, and even exceed the breaking strength of the wire rope in most cases. In this installation the PTO suffers from the same issue as most hydraulic winches that the hydraulic motor turning the winch get's maxed out before the winch reaches full line pull and goes into relief. The high performance hydraulic system available on tractors like the John Deere 850K can provide enough hydraulic GPM and PSI to pull more than any other winch on the same Deere 850 or 750 tractor.
Normally the John Deere mid-class dozers would take a smaller winch like the Allied H5C, Allied H6H, Carco H85 or Carco H90. If you have the need for big pulling power, high control, and want a proven winch platform, the H110B is a great choice. Please contact us for more information.
