Allied Accumulator Updates
Posted by Dan Ekstrom - Winch Expert on Aug 20th 2019
Over the years Hyster and Allied Systems Company have updated the accumulators in their PTO winches. These updates are most commonly seen in the most popular production winches like the Hyster W6F and Hyster W8L. We see dozens of winches go through our shop each year and we see a lot of the old ones still come in with the old style torpedo valves. The internal nitrogen charged bladders in these long skinny valves have almost always been damaged and fail testing. In the rare case that an old accumulator does pass testing we still replace it because it's only a matter of time before they fail. A failed accumulator will cause problems with the overlap between brake off and drum line-in/line-out along with other problems. Please contact us if you have any questions.
